Life is a lot like jazz...it's best when you improvise.

Lila's lastest CD
"Lila Ammons is heard in top form throughout Genealogy. She displays a versatile and appealing voice on a wide variety of infectious material.” - Scott Yanow
"A left of center vocal date ...it has an almost underground feel to it making it snap with a special kind of verve and spontaneity. Fine stuff that really opens the ears.“ - Midwest Record Entertainment "Lila has a distinctive sound and approach to interpreting some of the familiar jazz standards we have embraced over the years. At times, Lila’s vocal style reminds me of Esther Sattersfield, but for sure she has her own vocal identity." - Dee Dee McNeil, Musical Memoirs Blog "You sure can’t go too wrong when you’ve got a pedigree like singer Lila Ammons. She’s sure been exposed to the right sounds, and it shows here. She’s backed by a rotating team… and mixes vintage sounds from just about every era of jazz. ...Her bop chops are in great form as she has fun on Thelonious Monk’s “Man, That Was A Dream” while she glistens to Pete Whitman’s tenor on a glowing “Old Folks”. True to the marrow." - George W. Harris, Jazz Weekly THE COMPLETE WORKS OF ALBERT AMMONS IS NOW AVAILABLE!
For over 30 years French gentleman, Michel Pfau, lovingly and meticulously researched and compiled the complete works of Lila's grandfather, Boogie Woogie great, Albert Ammons. Unfortunately Michel Pfau died before he saw the completed packaging of his work, but it is assured that he would be quite happy with the outcome. Michel gathered all known recordings, a DVD with authentic film clips and included a booklet with 192 pages containing a biography, the complete discography (with comments by Axel Zwingenberger) as well as photos, scans of sheet music, record labels, and covers. This amazing box set with the 192 page booklet, 9 CDs and DVD is now available in a limited edition for collectors only. It can be ordered in Paris @ Association Cafe Society e: Please write to them at: [email protected] |

A TRIBUTE TO CHARLIE WATTS: The great Rolling Stones drummer, Charlie Watts, passed away in August of 2021. It was a great loss for many people. I was lucky enough to be the vocalist of one of Charlie's pet projects, "The ABC&D of Boogie Woogie" and we had great fun touring Europe and performing in New York City. He was a kind and funny man, and he is missed. This is a photo of one of our gigs in 2010 at the Metropol in Vienna Austria. Pictured are Axel Zwingenberger (piano), Charlie Watts, Dave Green (a childhood friend of Charlie's and bass player), and Ben Waters (piano).
